Despite having spent over a decade working in automotive lighting design for major car manufacturers, I found myself in the same position as any other driver. I dropped into the garage, expecting a quick fix. Instead, they quoted me £1,200 for a single new headlight.

Quotation for headlight replacement

I knew enough about the tech to have a hunch about what was wrong. So, I went off and found a “breaker” headlight—the fixings were smashed up, but those precious controllers were still fitted. It was sold “as seen,” meaning I had to take a gamble. I had no idea if the electronics were fried or functional.

Luckily, the AFS – Adaptive Front Lighting System – controller I needed still worked. I swapped it out, and my light was as good as new. But the experience stuck with me.

I realized that most people don’t have the background knowledge to take that risk. They are stuck between paying extortionate dealer prices or gambling their cash on junk parts that might not work.

That’s why I started Reconditioned Automotive.

I’ve spent my career in exterior vision systems design—basically anything that hangs off the outside of the car to help you see, like lights, wipers, and mirrors. I know exactly what goes wrong with these parts, and more importantly, how to test them.

My mission is to take that “junkyard gamble” out of the equation for you. I source lights, check the fit, function, appearance, and performance, and give them a second life.

We provide warranty-backed, reconditioned headlights, rear lights, and mirrors.

Our aim is simple:

Save Money: No more £1,200 surprises.

Save Worry: Guaranteed parts, tested by an expert.

Save Waste: Keeping perfectly good electronics out of the landfill.

Let’s see where the road takes us.
